The second book of the sequence brings stories of more chaos in the land. The Four Kingdoms are engaged in war and it is the kind of war which no one is basically winning. Annise Garic is moving towards her target which is a tough one but she is not stopping at any point. The northern throne has always been her target and now she can finally materialize her dream by taking what she thinks belongs to her. Rhea has a war of his own to deal with so there is no peace anywhere in the land.
There is another group that thinks that there is only one way to bring peace to the land i.e through the killing of the rulers who are engaged in a deadly war for a hundred years. Jai Jiroux is also a fighter who is keeping the spirit of the rebels high which means that if Jai gets caught then he would be hanged for sure. David Estes has woven a very complex story of the Four Kingdoms in this novel.
There is a war going on and everyone has his or her personal motive for which the steps are being taken. In such a situation any enemy from the outside can take advantage because no one is in a strong position to defend himself.
The novel is narrated by the famous narrator, Derek Perkins whose voice is known by the fans of fantasy all over the world. Fatemarked and Lifemarked are further parts of this series that can be bought along with this fantasy tale. Being fate marked is still not properly explained in this episode which means that the writer wants to keep this thing a secret for some time.
