Throne of Glass

Sarah J. Maas made a god name for herself in the literary world within a few years only. She writes romance for the Teen and YA category with good novels such as A Court of Thornes and Roses and House of Earth and Blood. The subject novel, Throne of Glass marks the beginning of a new series with the same title as this novel. The narration of this chapter is handled by Elizabeth Evans. She has a fresh voice and it made for a great quality read for sure.
Celaena Sardothien is an 18 years old assassin. She was dragged in front of the Crown Prince for her crimes. Prince Dorian promised her freedom but only in one condition. She had to act as a champion in a contest to have a novice royal assassin.

All her opponents were male thieves, warriors, and assassins from all across the empire. Each one of them was sponsored by someone from the council of the king. If she manages to beat her opponents in the elimination round then she could serve the empire for three straight years. After that, she could get her freedom. She had her training rounds with Westfall, who was the guard captain. He was quite exhilarating and challenging. Things started to get a lot more interesting when the price started to have feelings for her.
One contestant is found dead and then another. Will Celaena be the next victim?
Throne of Glass has everything for a young adult novel to have. It has a teenage assassin, menacing gargoyles, a rebel princess, and supernatural portals. It also has flavors of love, comedy, fantasy, and brutality, all in one. It will make a good read or listen.
