The narrator Alex Wyndham brings the characters to life. He captures their emotions as well as anyone out there. One can listen to him for hours on end.

Phyllida Satterthwaite has been hidden away in rural Devonshire and was always considered more odd than beautiful. Her oddity got her the attention of the sinister Duke of Moreland. She was also made into a sensation because of her uniqueness. The Duke was a notorious art collector who was hell-bent on acquiring one-of-a-kind treasures and he had set his eyes on the next target. To escape his mighty clutches, she was going to need help.

Captain Arthur’s days of heroism are in the past now. He was injured in the Peninsular War and could no longer walk. How could he even help a damsel in distress? He could, by marrying her of course. Now, could this idea work and save Philly from the vengeful Duke or will she be even in more danger because of it?

This book was the first standalone Regency novel from the author. It has remained one of her best and enjoyable works to date. The premise of this book is fascinating and original, unlike many other books of this genre.
