The Warrior

Every person in this world has some kind of weakness with the help of which he or she can be tamed by anyone else. Two lovers which Elin Peer writes about in the novel are of the same kind. Magni and Laura used to be lovers once and then they became husband and wife. For most of the people of the tribe, it was the conclusion of the love tale which started some years ago. After marriage, Laura thought that she wanted some independence in life, though she loved Magni he was a dominating soul.
Magni was second-in-command in the village and this post has made him quite rude in his behavior. He thinks that he can act as a ruler in the village and at home as well. Laura soon gets tired of this behavior and she runs away from the house in search of independence. People in the village search for Laura for a long time but everyone fails to find any track.

Then one day Laura returns to the village but she is not the same woman anymore. With her martial arts skill, she now possesses the power to match the strength of men so making her submit becomes impossible. Magni the dominating one finally feels that he cannot compel his wife to come to him again with the help of force.

Laura too shows love for her husband but she does not show readiness to become a slave again. Noelle Bridges has narrated Laura and John Masterson has provided a voice to Magni, both narrators have kept the romance intact. Don’t try to find links between The Ruler and Black or this novel as every book has an independent story. The stories are strong and they don’t need a connection of any kind.
