Black Dagger Brotherhood works on a single pattern and everyone in the group follows a particular code. No one can drift from the rules and regulations because going against the rules means you will be kicked out of the band and the band will wipe you out as well. Syn is one of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and he has been successfully keeping his secret from them for a very long time. Syn is a mercenary from the inside but he completes his job in a secretive way and this has been the key to his long survival.
Issue of Jo Early transfers the shift of balance between both worlds and a different type of unrest starts in the society. Meanwhile, there is prophesy about the Omega which is becoming true all of a sudden. Butch is the one who has seen the downfall of the Omega in her dreams and right after that a war has started between the societies.
Butch and Syn were not compatible at the start but the author J.R. Ward after twists and curves unites their path. Jim Frangione’s narration proves to be the difference between this book and Lover Unveiled and The Wolf. A lot has been going on in this book since the beginning and it is very difficult to understand what is right or wrong until you finish the story with extra details.
Syn does not look to be a nice person at the start because he has been keeping secrets, later that same person emerges as a savior for everyone. Butch also survives because of the aid which Syn provides to her till the end.
