Teri Schnaubelt is no outstanding narrator, but she is better than most and has done a decent job with this one. Her accents are good and her male and female voice is discernible for the most part.

Kit MacKlenna is grief-stricken has the sole survivor of a car crash that takes the lives of her parents. She also learns that her life was a lie. A legacy from her father includes a well-worn journal and a faded letter. It reveals to her that she was abandoned as a baby 160 years ago. The only clues that remain to hint at her identity are – a Celtic brooch with magical powers, a locket with the portrait of a 19th-century man, and a blood-spattered shawl.

As a result of the information, Kit decides to continue the work of her father in search of her identity, and solve the murder of her birth-parents. Kit needs to survive the upcoming quest that will take her utmost resolve. If she can, she might solve the mystery of her heritage and return without giving her heart in the process.

Fans of historical romance and time travel should read this book. it will transport you from your world to a different universe. The plot has plenty of turns and twists to keep you guessing and on your heels till the last page.
