B.J. Harrison is the narrator of this audiobook. He has done a solid effort to bring the characters to life. He has been narrating the series from the start and there’s no one we’d rather see narrate these books.
Nocturne Falls is the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. There are vampires, werewolves, witches, and gargoyles flying through the sky. The tourists think it’s all a show but they couldn’t be more wrong.
The supernaturals occupying the town know better and living at this place means being yourself, with all your fur, fangs, and fury. The grim reaper Lucien Dupree knows all about death, or rather he did until his powers failed him. Now, he is living as a lonely soul, away from humanity. That is best for them.
Retired genie Imari Zephara finds a nice place for herself in Nocturne Falls, but trouble follows her here. She finds herself teaming up with death, who happens to be a superb guy. Lucien wants to help her build a future where he also exists alongside her.
There are lots of surprises and twists in this tale. The emotional aspect of the novel is unique and keeps us invested for hours on end. Painter doesn’t disappoint especially with her intriguing characters and well-developed storylines.
