The Missing of Clairdelune

Ophelia is more like the old heroine i.e she is delicate in her talk and she behaves quite gently. Unlike the modern heroines in today’s literature, Ophelia is not the one who is talking out loud or is ready for action all the time. Still, she gets promotion by the ancestral spirit, and becoming the Vice Storyteller means that she is going to meet more and more people now.

Her powers will not remain a secret anymore from the people around and it will bring more threats to her instead of fun. Trusting different new people under such circumstances is not a good idea so she decides to stick with the old ones. The best choice is her fiancé who has been with Ophelia all these years. Everything comes into a nice groove slowly and Ophelia thinks that she might get used to these changes very quickly.

However, she is proved wrong because there are more threats which are waiting for her in this new state. Emma Fenney narrates how Ophelia goes beyond everything which she was told by Pole. This time the girl is trusting her own skills and she is not relying on anyone else. Christelle Dabos wanted to see Ophelia evolving in this story. This was something that the author painted in The Storm of Echoes and The Memory of Babel.

The writer likes developing the characters into legends after making them go through different tough routines. Several sacrifices are made and heavy losses are faced by the heroes for the sake of a higher position. On some occasions, the characters don’t want a higher position but they are left with no other way except to move forward.
