Kinsmen universe is not different from the human world when someone analyses it in terms of greed for power. The only difference in this group is that they don’t follow a single leader rather they rule their domains separately. Ilona Andrews is the first part that brings us to Meli Galdes’ family that is planning to get their daughter married to Celino who is the leader of a powerful empire.
Meli’s family is not so strong so they have planned to establish their contact with Celino through this marriage. Celino reverses the trick and does not show up for the marriage after which Meli’s life is ruined. Samantha Cook narrates these sad moments when the girl is broken completely. Later Meli is seen practicing hard as an assassin and when she thinks that she is ready, she goes after the man who destroyed her life intentionally. Mixed emotions are seen from the girl because from the bottom of her heart she still has a love for Celino.
The second story presents Claire Shannon who possesses a very different kind of mind. She can read other people’s minds and can also control them. As one mission fails in a bad way Claire at once finds herself between the devil and the deep blue sea. The people she once worked for now want her dead and running seems to be the only option for her. Claire reaches planet Rada where she changes her appearance and tries to mix among the locals.
Venturo is the man for whom she starts working and soon she comes to know that the man has the same abilities of mind reading and keeping her true identity hidden would not be possible anymore. Magic Rises and Magic Bites are about different worlds as compared to this so don’t try to listen to these two series at the same time.
