Michael Connelly has earned the reputation of being one of the best novelists of his time. The fans love the novels with the energy which has been witnessed in Desert Star and The Law of Innocence: Booktrack Edition. Mostly the audience observes courtroom drama which has been the strength of the writer from the beginning.
Mickey Haller gets another tough case, the one he was not willing to take apparently. The client of Haller is a woman who has killed a banker and no she wants to prove that she has done it because the man was blackmailing her. The banker was trying to snatch the house of the woman from her in one way or the other.
The woman claims that she is telling the truth but she has no evidence in her defense. The clues or evidence that the police have to find go against the woman so Haller thinks that he has taken a case with a dead end. Along with his team, Haller starts working on the case because he wants to know whether the woman is telling the truth or not.
The banker whom the woman had killed was connected to the underworld which proves that the woman was telling the truth. Now Haller must prove the same thing in the court in order to save the woman. The problem which he has to deal with first of all is the threat to his life. The underworld wants to see Haller dead and if he wants to save the woman then he must save his own skin first. Peter Giles should also get some appreciation because of the brilliant narration that he has provided.
