The advantage of having Max Bellmore on board with the narration is two-fold. We can differentiate the characters owing to the masterful command of his voice. Secondly, we get to enjoy the novel as it is meant to be enjoyed.
Torin is the most dangerous Lord of the Underworld there exists. He is a fierce and immortal warrior. He hosts the demon of Disease. Every touch of Torin causes sickness, death, and a worldwide plague. Carnal pleasure is forbidden for him and he has been able to keep it under control through his iron will. However, his temptation has no limit, while his control does. He is about to shatter because of the internal conflict.
Keeleycael is the powerful and beautiful Red Queen. She escapes from centuries-long imprisonment. She had vulnerabilities that were exposed when the desires simmered between her and Torin. His mere touch could end her, but resisting her is the hardest battle he will ever have to fight. His desire is great, but the consequences are disastrous. While he has won many battles, this is one where he thinks he won’t end up the victor.
This book is a welcome addition to the series. Finally, we can hear Torin’s story because we have been empathizing with the character since the start of the series.
