Lois McMaster Bujold has written this book on ancient lines, some references show that the author had a touch with the fantasy books of the previous century. Most of the time we don’t get what we dream to achieve in life and sometimes it happens in an exactly opposite way as life blesses us more than our expectations. We think of little things and we get such big surprises that we fail to handle them accurately.
Lord Cazaril’s fate is no different as he gets promoted to a level which he never wanted or hoped for in life. He was just a slave and then he ended up as the tutor of Iselle. Iselle is not an ordinary fiery as she is the sister of the one who is the heir to the throne. Teaching her was trouble and being with her made Cazaril’s life full of fears because there is a danger that surrounds the girl.
The Curse of Chalion
Lloyd James narrates the episodes with curses at a quick pace and for romantic scenes, the narrator keeps it in slow motion. Lloyd’s speech is always clear and no problem occurs in clarity. The Warrior’s Apprentice and Memory are the other classics that Lloyd has created over the years. Romance in the fantasy world happens to be one of the success stories of the author.
Love at first sight situation seldom occurs in these novels, the love gets developed after sometime when the characters get the chance to know one another completely. The curse which Cazaril faces does not end completely here as he starts walking on the path after which there is no way to return.
