Jack Reacher is always there to help the innocent and this is the only thing he does after the day he left his service. In the sixteenth part, Jack Reacher is not on any personal mission rather on this occasion he is hired by the department. Lee Child has once again joined Jack with the department and he is going to Carter Crossing where a woman has been killed.
The department wants Jack to investigate the murder because it is linked to a soldier who has connections in Washington as well. A direct investigation was not possible so Jack is asked to go undercover and unveil the truth behind the killing.
When Jack reaches the place, he gets shocked to notice that the case and the investigation are not that simple. There is a lot of stuff that has been going on in the area for a very long time and the killing of the woman might be linked to something else. Here Jack meets sheriff Elizabeth who has been keeping an eye on the town for quite a while now.
The sheriff wants to serve justice and the two forge a team together although they don’t fully trust each other. As they go further into the case, they get surprised to notice that there are conspiracies going on that are linked to the highest level in the state. Dick Hill has done splendidly in narration, it will bring other parts of the kind No Plan B and Killing Floor to the mind. Don’t think that Jack is going to fail in this mission because he is not going back and he has all the time to get to the core of the conspiracies.
