Tales of Heresy is the 10th chapter of The Horus Heresy novel series. This science-fiction adventure has stories by Dan Abnett, Anthony Reynolds, Mike Lee, Gav Thorpe, James Swallow, Matthew Farrer, and Graham McNeill. All of these are fantastic writers of science fiction.
The audio narration is done by a diverse team of narrators which includes Gareth Armstrong, Jonathan Keeble, Emma Gregory, Peter Whickham, and Toby Longworth. It was a mixed bag of performances. Some were good and some were not that good. If we have to mention the good narrators from the lot then Gareth, Toby, and Jonathan performed well. At the time when Horus rebelled against the Emperor, the civil war almost destructed the entire Imperium.
The war raged all across the galaxy and it led to a great struggle where the only victor was death. The war pitted the Astartes fully against their battle-brothers. But, a while after that, the Legions were seen struggling with their different demands and identities of the Great Crusade.
These stories include the wars with the alien invaders as well as the stories of conflicts within a Legion. It also includes dealing with the wayward primarch. The stories show the wars that were fought as the Great Crusade which led to the closure and then the Horus Heresy eventually began. The science-fiction work of Abnett is surprisingly not much good here as it was in the first nine chapters of the series. The Space Wolves Story of Mike Lee was the best one in it. It was kind of evidence here that Abnett is much better with the longer stories and Lee with the shorter ones.
