The concept of the Boogieman goes far deep in history, it is the name that scares kids from coming down from their bed at night. While some people are scared of this entity some think that such a creature does not exist in real life and it is all the creation of the imagination. William D. Arand starts portraying the Boogieman in an entirely different way i.e a way in which it looks more of a hero than a villain.
It is Gus who is a Boogieman and perhaps the only one of his kind left in the world because the rest of the creatures like him have been killed by the government. He has been successful in keeping his identity hidden from the rest of the world. During this time he has been fighting battles and solving cases too for the human world. Normal routine life looks boring to him because he wants constant action in his life.
When the novel opens we observe that Gus is restless because he hasnโt got any case for a very long time. Andrea Parsneau narrates the restlessness stupendously; Gus is seen not concentrating on his office work because he does not want this job. Then the case comes to him that looks spicy like Right of Retribution and Cultivating Chaos.
The case is interesting but this time it is dangerous as well because it can blow the cover of Gus which he has been keeping for a very long time. If that happens then the people he is working for might become his enemies and his existence would be threatened.
