“Stars of Fortune” is a romance novel written by Nora Roberts. It is the first book in The Guardians Trilogy. This is the tale of three women and three men who join up to solve a great ancient mystery through the endless power of love. She has other books that deserve consideration which include but not limited to The Becoming and The Awakening.
Saskia Maarleveld is the narrator of this book. She has given distinct voices to all her characters. This results in some of her male character voices to end up annoying. That won’t be the case for everyone, but it can rub some the wrong way.
Sasha Riggs is a solitary artist. She is haunted by dreams and nightmares where she is turned into fascinating paintings. These dreams or more like visions lead her to an island in Greece by the name of Corfu. Five others have been drawn to the same place for the same mission. They want to seek the fire star. Sasha recalls them because she has drawn them; a loner, a wanderer, a magician, an archaeologist, and a fighter.
They all are on this quest but all hide their secrets. Sasha is the only one who can hold them together. She has great feelings for the magician – Bran. She sees a man of compassion and power. As she struggles with her rare ability, he is there to support her through thick and thin. All six of them have to navigate through this quest filled with love, trust, and unity. However, a dark threat looms near, hoping to destroy everything in its way.
This is a typical Nora Roberts magical novel, not there is anything wrong with that. Fans of the author know what to expect. They might be getting tired of the formula but it is presented in a new light.
