The story of an executioner here touches the hearts of millions who listen to it in the voice of Fred Berman. The realm of the Dark-Hunters has been functioning accurately for thousands of years because they have a watch dog. This single powerful force keeps an eye on everyone so that none of them might break the code of the realm.
The points are simple which the Dark-Hunters have to follow i.e don’t love anyone and also don’t get indulged in things related to the human world. The rules are not very hard to follow but on rare occasions, some Hunters try to experiment with their lives, and at this time the powerful keeper of the codes comes in. He shows no mercy towards those who try to break the rule and he has been able to fulfill his duties for such a long time because his heart beats for none.
Sherrilyn Kenyon brings a twist to the story just as she did in Shadow Fallen and Bad Moon Rising. The one with the stone heart starts getting attracted towards the female Dark-Hunter known as Danger. This attraction soon changes into love which is a bad sign because it means breaking the third code of the realm.
A single female character changes the whole situation of the story and it appears that the codes or the main character have to be sacrificed in the end. Also, this disturbance in the balance brings danger to the human world and from there on the story gets twisty. More and more characters get involved in the thing and apparently, no solution is brought to the surface.
