Usually, the students choose institutes and subjects of their choice in their life but this is a different scenario as the institute chooses the students randomly. Breene and Shannon Mayer have done a lot of work together in the past, and starting this new series thus brings more joy to the fans. It is clear from the voice of Khirstine Hvam that the narrator has also enjoyed narrating this story.
The firm control of the voice has never been lost by the narrator ever. Hvam narrated the book according to her strengths and this enriched the book with a beautiful voice. A Queen of Ruin and A Ruin of Roses are equal in standard if compared according to the storyline but it is the narration that makes the difference. The start of every series is difficult for the author because it needs proper details of the world that he is creating in the novel.
The author has to make the audience believe that the world truly exists, only then the fans are able to enjoy it fully. The story begins when the second son of the family gets an invitation from the academy. The elder one was taken in by the institute and he died after a few months.
Now it’s the turn of the second one and if the family says no then all of them would be killed. The elder sister in the house cannot bear all of this so she gives herself a boyish look and goes to the academy instead of her brother.
