Deborah Harkness is a talented novelist, scholar and wine enthusiast. She is mostly known for her work as a historian but has done good work in fantasy and fiction as well. A Discovery of Witches is her bestselling novel in the New York Times. The Book of Life is another marvel from the author that you cannot afford to miss. Shadow of Night is a chapter out of the All Soul Series. It is a paranormal romance novel and did brilliantly well for the author and her followers.

Jennifer Ikeda seems to be the perfect choice for narrating such a book. Her voice suited well with the characters of the novel and she also projected them in a way so that they look larger than life.

If you are checking the review of this novel then you might have gone through A Discovery of Witches novel. If yes, then you are done with the right thing. This novel will only be enjoyable if you had gone through that mentioned novel. People became huge fans of the last chapter for its cliffhanging ending. In this chapter, Shadow of Night, you will see Matthew and Diana go on a time-traveling trip to Elizabethan London. It is a place where they both get plunged into a world that is full of magic, spies and a coterie of the old mates of Matthew. It was the School of Night. Just as the search intended for the Ashmole 782 gets intensified then the past of Matthew gets tightened around him. It was also the time when Diana was looking for a witch to make her learn the magic. They were soon seen on a new and very dangerous journey.

You might find this book a little bit slow to start with. But, once it did, then it just simply take off. You will love all characters and also the alchemical references made here. The characters in this paranormal romance are very much believable and the vocal performance is top notch as well.
