Meredith has been suffering things since her birth and she thinks that she is lucky to have survived till the present day. Her aunt is the Queen of Air and Darkness who wants to get Meredith pregnant as soon as possible. If this does not happen then Prince Cel will take over the empire very soon. Although Meredith has been sleeping with new guards every night she has not been able to give birth to an heir.
This is the only problem that Meredith’s aunt has in mind but the young princess has other problems which she can feel. She has somehow been able to bring magic back to the land and she has no idea how that happened. According to her guards there used to be a relic in the faerie land which was the source of power for the people.
When that relic disappeared all of a sudden, the magical powers also vanished from the land. Now Meredith has been able to provide the same kind of power to the people which has made everyone believe that she is the relic now. Laurell K. Hamilton has made the heroine of the story suffer many things and at the same time, she has been given time to relish the pleasures of life too.
Laural Merlington knew beforehand that the character is unique so Laural kept the narration in a proper pattern. Death of a Darklord might not be enough for those who want to listen to the classics designed by Hamilton. This book and also Smolder are also there to make you feel the true flavor of the curry which exists in the literature produced by Hamilton.
