Scandal in Spring

Scandal in Spring is the fourth book of The Wallflowers series penned by New York Times bestseller Lisa Kleypas. It is a historical romance fiction novel, preceded by Devil in Winter. Lisa is a RITA award-winning author who has more than 20 books to her name. Her books are read all over the world and have been translated into 14 different languages. If you’re looking for more books from her, consider Secrets of a Summer Night.

The audiobook is narrated by Mary Jane Wells. She has delivered an incredibly satisfactory performance. She didn’t lack in the portrayal of any character and was able to command the attention of the audience without breaking a sweat.

Daisy Bowman is a quirky and fun-loving American heiress, and she is the last unmarried Wallflower. She has been informed by her exasperated father that if she can’t find a husband in time, she will be forced to marry the ruthless entrepreneur Matthew Swift, a man she hates down to the last bone in her body.

Daisy wanted to marry anyone just to avoid Matthew; however, she didn’t take into account that she would be smitten by the man. Matthew’s unexpected charm took her by surprise and she discovered that the man she hated might be the man of her dreams. However, a scandalous secret is revealed that threatened both their hearts and passions.

This novel has two interesting and lovable characters in Daisy and Matthew. They made this book a sweet and touching read. Daisy is a romantic and Matthew had a dry sense of humor that went well with the other characters. Maybe this book isn’t as good as the previous 3, however, that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyed.
