Six books in a row can make an author feel tired at times and one can expect that the author would appear to look exhausted in the last part. Well, that is not the case with Nora Roberts who has written such stories quite often.
The author has never felt tired rather she has been able to write more enthusiastically all the time. The same is the case with Angela Dawe who has narrated this novel, she cannot narrate a book in a dull voice ever. The story gives a few history lessons linked to Scotland in the beginning and then it gets focused on Serena who is a Scottish girl.

When Serena was quite young she faced a miserable incident along with her family. They were attacked by Englishmen and since that day, Serena started hating the English people. Her brother’s friend Brigham likes Serena but she does not like him because his family had roots in England.
After a lot of effort, Brigham finally proves to Serena’s family that he was Scottish by heart but the young girl is not ready to trust him at all. Unlike Year One and Red Lily, these two are not opposite characters but the girl has an issue with the origin of Brigham’s family and he is bound to prove to her that he loves her more than any family history. The boy is not going against Serena at any point and she is still of the view that Brigham is a rival and he should be treated as one. Forming a relationship with such a man who belongs to the enemy side is the worst decision according to Serena.
