Seeing wounded people in the World War II was really tough for Claire as she was the nurse near the borders. Still she performed her duty willingly because she had love for her homeland in her heart and affection for those fighting for it. When the war was over she was satisfied with the salary and honor she received from the department after which she planned a honeymoon with her husband. The trip was arranged especially to get rid of all the frustrations and tensions of the war which were still there in the minds of husband and wife. Because of this they selected a destination away from the hustle and bustle of life. In that remote place Claire touched an ancient object after which she was transported back in time. Diana Gabaldon in this portion tells us the old American history and the scenery which exactly matches the time.
Claire on being transported in time becomes terrified with fear but she also starts loving a man in that time zone. Davina Porter gets the chance to narrate the love story of these two strangers in this first part of the series which leads to Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager. Just keep the seat belts tight because the voyage is not ending at this part. It is just the first jump of Claire in a different time zone and the author has a lot for her in stock for the further parts. Her love with a warrior of the past stops her from going back to the future but she also has some fear that she wants to inspect about in the future.
