No Place to Run

No Place to Run is the 2nd book of the KGI series written by American bestselling author Maya Banks. It is romance fiction, thriller, romantic suspense novel. She is also known for her Scottish historical romance novels. If you want to follow up on her works, consider Rush. Also, you need to check out In Bed with a Highlander.

The narration of this book has been performed by Harry Berkeley. He has the perfect voice for performing alpha males. He keeps our interest throughout the book.

The last person Sam Kelly thought of saving was Sophie Lundgren. They shared a brief but intense affair once. Sam was undercover and Sophie vanished suddenly after that. She spent the next months on the run. Any mistake could cost both her life and that of her unborn child. Now, she resurfaces to warn Sam. This time, he might be the one in mortal danger.

Sam is the leader of the elite KGI Special Ops team. It is a band of Kelly brothers that fight against the corruption of the government. They have to find that one person that will make their existence complete. This is when Sam’s undercover mission brings him in the path of Sophie. She was a lovely waitress and had a few nights of hot sex with him. The player is being played here, but this is a game where no one wins. There’s still a big chance that they win the jackpot.

The beginning of this book is crude. It starts with an unbelievably long sex scene. The story arc of the characters is also uninspiring and unoriginal. However, the story has substance and heart after you’re done with the initial chapters.
