My Soul to Take is the first novel in the Soul Screamers series. It is a young adult romance book. Rachel Vincent is the writer behind writing this one. She had an English language teaching career before becoming a full-time writer. Over the past few years, she has given us some good novels such as My Soul to Lose and Stray.
Amanda Ronconi is a top narrator especially when a book involves, emotion, passion, and love. It is because her voice is quite expressive. My Soul to Take has got all that which Amanda fully justified with her vocal techniques. There is something wrong with Kaylee Cavanaugh. She is not able to see any of the dead people. But, she can sense when anybody around her is nearing death. When such a thing happens, then a force within and beyond her control pushes her to shout out bloody murder.
Kaylee is looking to be happy and enjoy the attention that she is getting from the most handsome guy in the school. But, it wasn’t easy for a normal date when Nash knows a lot more about her than Kaylee does. At the time when the class fellows start dying then only Kaylee had the idea that who will be next. This was taking things in a different direction and wasn’t helping her much with her relationship with Nash.
The female lead character is very compelling and the plot has some unique elements associated with it as well. There are some interesting moments with emotions that will make your time worth it. All in all, it is a good book with some sad moments as well.
