Moonlight Road

Moonlight Road is a contemporary romance novel written by RITA Award winner Robyn Carr. It is the eleventh book in the Virgin River series. In this, we revisit some familiar faces of the Virgin River and their stories. Robyn also has a plethora of other novels, some of which are Sunrise on Half Moon Bay and Second Chance Pass.

Therese Plummer goes very well with Robyn Carr as the narrator of this book. Just a solid narration, as we have come to expect from her.

Thirty-five years old Erin Foley is developing empty nest syndrome. Her younger siblings have happily settled. She finds a secluded cabin in the Virgin River and hits the pause button of her life. She wants to get to know herself now. She wasn’t prepared to know the shaggy-haired man that she meets.

Beneath his shaggy hair and distinct features, Aiden Riordan is an ex-military doctor. He is just recharging after leaving the navy. He wants to get to know Erin but her journaling and meditating are keeping him at bay. He wants to get closer only if his crazy ex-wife won’t get in the way. His shabby exterior is another story though. But Virgin River is exactly the place for unlikely romances, fueled by the well-intentioned meddling of the supporting casts.

Robyn gives a real insight to the audience about her characters. It is not only about romance, but something much deeper. It is about the characters, their strengths, and their flaws. There are many sensitive themes discussed in the book like adoption, infertility, and special needs. However, these themes never become the dominating aspect of the book. It meshes well with the characters at the forefront.
