The battle between the dark forces and the forces of the light is a common routine in fantasy tales. In the case of Chad, all of it has appeared a little differently in this novel. Authors Larry Correia and John Ringo have presented Chad as a helpless being here. He has been kicked out of his job and that’s why he is not getting any help from the side which supports light.
Coming to New Orleans seemed to be a good idea at the start but something is not right about this place. Chad does not like the food and also the climatic conditions are not supportive of his personality. The most horrible thing is that an old monster or the Great Old One has been gaining power for many years in New Orleans and this time he is coming back with full grandeur. The days of the light would be over if the Old One comes back to the land.
Chad cannot confront such a forceful being on his own after all he just has a sword in hand. Call for help reminds the old fans of Destroyer of Worlds and Gun Runner. Fey princess is called for help by Chad and she too does not like the Old One at all. Then some Saints decide to come for the battle which will need all their skills and potential.
Oliver Wyman here has narrated a story that had action in it but at the same time, there were a lot of funny situations in it. Comic in sense the story moves on different tracks and then finally comes on the right path at the end.
