Barbara Rosenblat manages to add levels to the enjoyment of the novel as the narrator of this audiobook. She provides an engaging narration and has even performed the male voices fascinatingly and impressively.

As Iphiginia Bright returned to England from a year of adventure touring the classic ruins of Greece and Italy, she discovers that the real adventure was waiting for her at home. Her Aunt Zoe has been blackmailed and she needs to find the culprit before he can do more harm.

She imitates history’s most famed beauties like Helen of Troy and Cleopatra and descends on society’s corrupt people. She passes off as the mistress of Marcus Valerius Cloud. Since he is missing himself, he can’t say anything about it. Suddenly, he turns up and things get quite interesting.

The heroine of this story is quite an intelligent and entertaining person. She is the heart and soul of this novel. Her personality shines the most at the center of this historical story. Ultimately, it is a mystery book and the characters have to determine the identity of the blackmailer.
