Rhys Winterborne is a common-born who has achieved vast wealth and success through savage ambitions. Rhys gets whatever he wants in business and beyond. When he meets the beautiful and shy aristocrat Lady Helen Ravenel, he wants to possess her. Even if he must claim her virtue to solidify his marriage with her, so be it.

Helen has hardly any contact with the cynical and glittering world of London society. However, Rhys’ approach awakens strong passion inside her. Her upbringing belies a conviction that she can reel in her unruly husband. Then, a time comes when Rhys is threatened by conspiracy from everywhere. Now, Helen must trust him with her darkest secrets and help him achieve the reward of a lifetime of bliss.

The characters of this novel are interesting and we find ourselves rooting for them unconditionally. The author creates and maintains a certain level of conflict and uncertainty that keeps us on the edges of our seats.
