J.R. Ward has over the years created a whole new world of demons through the different series which the author has written. Demons are more attractive in Ward’s stories and they are portrayed as romantic lovers that can die for their loved ones. Sucking blood used to be their instinct in the past but now they are trying to save human flesh and blood.
Every now and then the physical pleasures appeal them and they tend to drift but then with a single jerk they come back to their senses. Mary Luce becomes the victim of a raging vampire attack in this novel presented to us in the voice of Jim Frangione. All her life the girl was dissatisfied with her performance in life also she was not happy with what was given to her by life.
Because of a mere accident she falls into the world of demons with deadly fangs. However one of them who happen to be the most powerful of the lot starts protecting her. Rhage not only starts protecting her but he also starts loving her and of course vampire love is not like the human love i.e it’s a little barbaric. Rhage wants to have Mary for physical pleasures and she too started liking his physical charisma.
It’s a warm welcome by the author in the world which was painted in A Warm Heart in Winter and Dark Lover before this. Physical pleasures are highlighted a great deal in the book so if you have kids in the house than it is better to keep such stuff out of their reach so that you can listen to it when your are alone.
