Love and Other Wild Things is a paranormal romance novel written by one of the most famous authors of the genre – Molly Harper. It is the 2nd book of the Mystic Bayou series. Molly is a member of the Romance Writers of America. Her novels have received praise for Romantic Times, Publishers Weekly, USA Today, and Booklist. Her novels have also received the RITA award nomination, like And One Last Thing. Her novel – Where the Wild Things Bite – is also a RITA award nominee.
Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis are the two narrators of this audiobook. Their voices are awesome and they added a lot to the story. Amanda is solid as ever in the portrayal of the characters and Jonathan is no slouch either.
Mystic Bayou is a tiny town hidden in a swamp where witches, dragons, vampires, and shape-shifters have taken abode alongside humans. The town had formed alongside the mysterious energy rife in the bayou. This helps keep the town’s magic balance in check. However, a rift has been destabilizing and widening for some time, and it is threatening to send the magical population into utter chaos.
Danica Teel, an energy witch, has been sent by the League to figure out what’s the issue. She is accompanied by bear-shifter Mayor Zed and they are working on the case. Zed is falling for Dani, but she’s reluctant to budge. However, a threat is advancing towards them and they can only survive if they join hands. Molly has mastered the art of light-hearted humor that can appease a variety of audiences. Her writing style is quite creative and doesn’t seem to clash with anyone. She also makes a fantastic team with Amanda.
