Leviathan Wakes is a science fiction and fantasy novel. It is the first installment in The Expanse novel series which is authored by James S. A. Corey. This is the pen name used by the authors’ duo of Ty Frank and Daniel Abraham. The Expanse is their highly-rated series.
If we talk about their novels at an individual level then The Butcher of Anderson Station is one of their best. Another good one for them from the subject series is Leviathan Falls.
James Mays provided a magnificent narration of this audio novel.
The novel introduced a captain, his team, and a detective in this masterpiece of science fiction just as a horrifying solar system conspiracy gets unraveled. Humanity is seen colonizing the solar system which included Moon, Mars, the Asteroid Belt, and even beyond. However, the stars were yet to be accessed.
Jim Holden was the XO of the ice miner who made runs from the Saturn rings going to the mining stations of the Asteroid Belt. When he got stumbled along with his crew on a derelict ship named Scopuli then they discovered themselves with a secret in hand.
This was something which they never wanted in the first place. It was a secret which someone was willing to kill for and that killing would be on an unfathomable scale to Jim Holden and his team. War is looming in the solar system unless Jim could do something and figure out who abandoned the ship and what was the reason.
Leviathan Wakes provided The Expanse novel series with a flying start. Listeners had some good stuff to say about this book from all aspects of quality including its writing, characterization, and narration.
