The concept of “Others” gained fame in very quick succession so Anne Bishop has tried to continue with the thing here as well. The “Others” mean everyone who is not human of course. They are shape-shifters, vampires, and all other deadly things which never bring good news to the human world. Vicki never wanted to be a part of all this but when her career got busted and she received a kick from her husband as well she decided to start a business near the town that is ruled by the “Others”.
It was not a big thing because the woman planned not to get indulged in the business of those strange creatures and that was the right way to deal with the problem. Lake Silence was famous for its notorious happenings and one of those places close to Vicki. A murder takes place near Vicki and the lodger Aggie Crowe thinks that the human among them is the cause of the murder.
Human laws don’t work in the world dominated by the shape-shifters so Vicki has to defend herself against the allegation that was resting on her. She along with her friends start their investigation so that they can prove that they are not guilty at all. Alexandra Harris narrates how this group of humans awake something deadlier than the shape-shifters and a battle starts.
