Anita Blake saves people and she makes sure that the vampires don’t get into the human zone. If the vampires ever dare to cross the line then they have to pay with their lives so Anita knows what she is doing and she is doing it in the right way. It is because of her that the vampires have not dared to cross the line. Laurell K. Hamilton has not described Anita as an enforcer rather she is the one who keeps everyone safe.
If the vampires don’t cross their line then she makes sure that no harm comes to them as well. A fifteen year old girl gets abducted and this starts this new episode of the series. The parents of the girl and everyone around claim that the girl has been abducted by vampires so this is the case which is given to Anita Blake.
She goes to the den of the vampires and finds out that the girl was not the only one who was turned in the recent events. There were many others who have been turned recently and they were not willing to let go of their master as his commands were the only thing they wanted to listen to.
Kimberly Alexis had a strange story to narrate in this novel because, for the first time, the people don’t want to leave their vampire master. This didn’t happen in Death of a Darklord and Circus of the Damned so it is a bit different as compared to the other patterned stories of the series. Anita really finds it difficult to stand against the enemies this time because she does not want any of the humans to suffer.
