If I Only Knew

Corrine Michaels is once again back with another great book – If I Only Knew. It is a contemporary romance novel and is the fourth book in the Second Time Around series. This story is about a complicated attraction, slowly going from hate and turning into lust and passion. Corinne Michaels writes these kinds of books where the protagonist goes through failures and in turn, it builds their character. Try other books from her, e.g. Stay for Me and Come Back for Me.

The narrators for this book are Sophie Eastlake and Shane East. They have portrayed Danielle and Milo perfectly. The only complaint one could have is that the same character is not necessarily voiced by the same person every time. This can cause distractions at times. However, this case is only for the side characters. Besides that, one can’t find better narrators than this dynamic duo.

Danielle and her children have to suffer a horrifying tragedy. She loses her husband, and the rug is pulled for underneath her. Her children lose their dear loving father. Thus, she becomes resolute instead of drowning in her grief. She focuses on her career and climbs the corporate ladder. She becomes the right hand of the CEO of Dovetail Enterprises. This was exactly what she needed. But why is she now being saddled with this arrogant and irresponsible assistant – Milo. Not to mention, why does he have to be so insanely sexy with that posh accent of his. If she’s not careful, her disdain for him might turn to love soon.

The book has a mix of some great humor and serious scenes that keep it fresh. Danielle is trying to navigate through her normal life as Milo is trying to get his back on track. They’re not as different as they think they are.
