It’s Anita Blake on the rising in a world she never thought she would be able to govern. Showing dominance in the world of the flesh is tough but showing that who is the boss in the underworld is tougher. Anita is bad news for the undead and the vampires because she is coming for all of them and will not rest until she hunts each one of them down in physical combat. Mercy is not in the book of Laurell K. Hamilton’s newly created apex predator. Anita thought that in her busy routine of life she would never be able to love because she lives in such a horrible world and no human can understand her job or mission. Well, she was right to that extent but she never expected her heart to beat a little louder for someone she should have killed long ago. There he was in front of her showing his appeal for her and ready to claim her heart which she just cannot give to an enemy.
Kimberly Alexis narrates Jean Claude as a true love but being a vampire he is lusty too and purity in love is hard to find in the world of the undead. Anita is always alarmed by Jean’s presence but she craves for it too. Like many others such as Rafael and The Laughing Corpse, the author has made this book complicated as well. There is love and then there is lust between all of this there stands one woman who wants to put an end to all of this but she too has found love which she doesn’t want to lose.
