This is the second part of the Red Queen series and the struggle of the rebels is still going on but so far they haven’t been able to defeat the oppressors. They have a weapon in the form of Mare Barrow whose blood is red but she can control the lightning which means that she has the ability of a Silver. The court thought that she was faking the whole thing because such a power is not possible to possess ordinary folk.
Then everyone witnessed her true powers when she escaped from the fangs of Maven, the prince who betrayed her. Maven has become the king now and he wants to eradicate Mare forever. Mare, on the other hand, has found out that she is not the only one with this special gift rather there are more like her who have been in hidings for a very long time.
She must forge a group of these Red-and-Silver so that the rebellion can gain power and finally achieve the true motive of its making. Mare has another big issue which is teasing her from the inside as she fears that she could easily become the one she wants to destroy. Amanda Dolan narrated Red Queen and King’s Cage so the voice continues to become more and more impressive.
The voice of the narrator has in it the feeling that this story needed for its presentation. Mare has to deal with their inner demons first of all if she wants to get rid of the evil which has been plaguing the world for so many years. Victoria Aveyard surely has something wonderful for the ending so the listeners will have to wait for it.
