Fighting mental illness is the toughest as compared to other parts of the body because your brain is the one who is helping you in the fight. If the brain is not in a normal state then you cannot fight with anything because the tool on which you were depending has produced a flaw. Author and narrator Jenny Lawson have faced severe mental illness in her life but she thinks that she has found a way to deal with the thing.
She talks about the methods which she adopted in the procedure of curing her mind. Though the methods which the author has narrated don’t look normal she thinks that they are worth trying. Once she talked to her husband about having a herd of kangaroos in the house which was a suggestion that seemed bizarre to her husband but she didn’t stop.
She ordered the herd right to her house and they conducted that experiment which made her house a mess. According to the author, this is not something that could be termed insane rather she is just trying to be furiously happy all the time. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and I Choose Darkness are also about the bold steps which the author has taken in her life without a second thought in the mind.
Such events make us explore different things and we feel brave from the inside as well. Taking a step in the backward direction is not the right idea at all because this will make you feel that you are a loser. Jenny does not want her listeners to live the life of a loser.
