Life can get unexpected twists at any time and these can make or destroy our lives in a quick moment. For Melissa, it was the other way around when she lost her son after which she lost all purpose in life. She used to be a great writer before that incident but when she lost her son, she was sure that she would not be able to find anything positive in her life. Slowly, her relationship with her husband also deteriorated and she found herself alone in life.
At this stage, she wasn’t able to write or create anything so she decided to move away from the world. She bought an old house that was not in a very good state and started redecorating it which brought some of the positive energy back. Then out of nowhere, a wildfire brings threat for her, and she thinks that her life is going to shatter once again but this does not happen on this occasion. She gets a phone call from her sister Hattie who has turned into a nun now.
The two sisters used to be very close when they were living together. Hattie unveils a secret linked to Melissa which surprises her to the core. When Melissa was young she developed a relationship with a boy and got pregnant. The family decided to get rid of the baby in order to save themselves from the shame of the scandal. Now Hattie tells Melissa that the baby is alive and she has turned into a young girl.
Melissa thinks that she can meet her daughter and perhaps she can bring her home in order to provide her with the love that she was supposed to get. The Whittiers and Without a Trace were the best creations of Danielle Steel still the love of a mother which is described in this book can outclass anything. The appealing voice of Michael Braun has played its role fully too.
