Edenbrooke

Edenbrooke is a historical romance and Regency fiction novel authored by Julianne Donaldson. This novel was nominated for the Goodreads Choice Awards Best Romance. If you want more from the author, check out Blackmoore. Her novel Sommer in Edenbrooke is also an interesting one.

Emily Elizabeth Hamilton is the narrator of this audiobook. While she tries her best to transport the reader back to the Victoria era through her immaculate English accent, she delivers an underwhelming performance that is a mixed bag for fans.

Marianne Daventry can do anything to escape the boredom of Bath and the lustful attentions of creepy suitors. When an invitation comes from her twin sister Cecily to join her at the country’s estate, she jumps at the chance.

She thought she could enjoy the quaint countryside without much trouble, as her sister snagged the heir of Edenbrooke. However, she didn’t know that plans can go sideways in an instant.

Marianne finds herself embroiled in an unexpected adventure, from a scary run-in with a highwayman to an apparent innocuous flirtation. Her adventure is filled with enough intrigue and romance to keep her occupied and confused. Will she be able to keep her head in the right place, or will her heart take over and let her be swept off by a stranger? She had expectations of a relaxing summer but fate had other plans for her.

This is a heart-warming tale and a completely engrossing experience by the author. It has romance, intrigue, and humor. There are twists and turns in the story that keeps the readers on the edge of their seats. It is an elegant, sweet, and clean regency romance that deserves to be experienced by fans of historical fiction.
