The war between humans used to be the main thing of concern in the stories of the past. Later the trend changed and the writers started writing about different intergalactic stuff. The war between humans and aliens used to steal the show a few years back. Now in Cosimo Yap’s world, the war has taken a new shape.
The war is there but it is not taking place in the open rather it is being fought in a virtual reality game designed by the aliens. Whoever wants to be a part of war can enter this game and do what he wants to do. People enter this world with different agendas now as they can support any side which they like. No one is favoring others and everyone is playing for his benefit.
Alan joins the Black Rose guild and his motive is to serve the land but first, he has to learn the skills of fighting in serious combat. When he enters the virtual world he is amazed to see that here no one is helping each other and to save yourself and fulfill your task you have to help yourself.
It is nothing like a video game rather it is more like an actual battle where you can get killed too. Fun just never ended in Opening Moves and Sacrificial Pieces, just like those two books this book also has a lot of scenes that will provide the listener the energy that he needs. Nick Podehl has a great talent for narrating such books with an imaginative world attached to them. The voice is not robotic that’s why the narrator can convey the feelings of the characters completely.
