In the dystopian Chicago of Beatrice Prior, society was divided into five different sections. Each of them was dedicated to the tilling of a specific virtue. Those virtues were ‘honest’ for Candor, ‘selfless’ for Abnegation, ‘brave’ for Dauntless, ‘intelligent’ for Erudite, and ‘peaceful’ for Amity. On a designated day every year, all of the youngsters who were 16 years of age were made to select a particular faction out of those five. Once done then they were bound to devote themselves to that for the rest of their lives.
That decision for Beatrice Prior was between being who she was and staying with her family. She couldn’t have both of those. Therefore, she made a choice that stunned everyone, including herself. She renamed herself Tris and struggled hard to find out who her true friends were. But then she also had a big secret. She kept it concealed from everyone as that could lead to death…
The listeners will enjoy this story with a really strong heroine and a dystopian single. There was a single forced choice made that completely altered the life of the main character and that would surely intrigue the listeners.
