Craig Alanson is one of the cleverest of writers; he decorates the stories with proper care and knows exactly how to keep a grip on the fans. Almost all the stories which the author has written in the past were not only attractive but they were also with a proper lesson for the public. The end of the story defines the purpose of the author very clearly and there are never left any ambiguities in the tales ever.
Currently the author writes about a princess who is facing a big problem ahead. The enemy is on the threshold and she has to hold on until the hero is trained fully to take on his job. Koren the man who is needed for the job knows nothing about his powers and his training would needs a lot of time.
Tim Gerard Reynolds narrates the hero side which is not going to win very easily. The circumstances are against them and they have to struggle hard agains the magic which lies in the hands of the enemy. Columbus Day and Breakaway were about alien invasions and this is a different story altogether. Wizards and other magical creatures emerge on the land here and Koren even though he knows that he is a wizard is still unable to use his powers.
Cheating and lying does not exist everywhere like the previous stories but the enemy is of the same category i.e it wants to erase the hero from the face of the world. Defense lines are becoming weaker at every step which means soon the enemy will cross the border and take hold of the thorne.
