Dark Witch

Dark Witch is the introductory book to The Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy. It is a romance novel. It has been written by Nola Roberts. It is a #1 New York Times bestselling author’s novel that details the importance of family, land, and love. She has written other books worthy of consideration such as The Awakening and Hideaway.

Katherine Kellgren has provided her voice as the narrator of this book. While some might differ, her performance is unbearable for most. She shouts a lot in important and heavy scenes. She is overdramatic for the most part. Sometimes the volume gets way too loud for comfort. Overall, it is an annoying narration that might just ruin the whole experience.

Iona Sheehan arrives in Ireland on the advice of her grandmother. She has a determined optimism about her. She also has a natural talent with horses. County Mayo, Ireland is the place where her ancestors’ magic and blood have flown for centuries. This is where her destiny is written.

Boyle McGrath is the owner of a local stable where Iona comes for a job. He has all the characteristics of her dream guy. He is a cowboy, a pirate, and has a way with horses. Iona is hopeful she can have a life here. But things take a dark turn. An ancient evil has arisen out of Iona’s family tree. Now, family and friends have to fight to keep hope and love from drowning out of their lives.

It is a great romance story that is unfortunately ruined by terrible narration. The story might stick to some romance novel tropes, but even that plays to its strength because of the amazing author’s plot development.
