Dragon fief gets bloodstained for which Kaylin Neya is called for help. Kaylin is one trustworthy female who is there for the world when she is needed. She is not afraid to put her hand in the mouth of danger. There was a time when she was weak and needed the help of other creatures but that was yesterday.
In the world of today, Kaylin has direct contact with the Dragon Emperor and she comes down on the enemy with a sword in hand. The emperor has given dragons under her command and she comes with full force on every occasion. Seven corpses in one day was still a deadly thing to even hear about. Kaylin reached the spot and was shocked to see all the seven corpses in the same type of dressing. Perhaps someone was toying with their minds to mislead them from the main crime.
Clear signs of sinister powers can be felt near the dead bodies and it hints towards a danger that has remained buried for centuries. Nice coordination can be found with Cast in Conflict and Cast in Shadow as the author Michelle Sagara is moving in a nice sequence in this series.
Official narrator Khristine Hvam hasn’t tried anything new since the beginning of the series, though there are certain needs for improvement the narrator hasn’t tried anything. Whether it is the climax or the beginning scenes the audience listens to the same kind of narration which is no doubt clear but a little more energy could be of great use here. Kaylin is in her maximum powers in this novel and the author has added an equally powerful rival for her.
