Teri Clark Linden and Alexander Cendese are not satisfactory as the narrators of this book. While Alexander’s voice grows on you, his female voice is horrible, practically unlistenable. Teri’s voice is the most unbearable because she breathes a lot which causes distraction.

Jonah Steel is trying to solve the mystery surrounding his family and the abduction of his brother. As he is knee-deep in the investigation, a visit by his best friend complicates the matter. Although he is not as much distracted by him as he is by the therapist of his brother, Dr. Melanie Carmichael. The humility of the beauty has him smitten. His heart burns for her, unlike any other woman before her.

Melanie is driven, intelligent, yet filled with regret. She has fallen in love with Jonah Steel, but fears that this secret might never be revealed to him. She finds herself attracted to the gorgeous man and can’t help to control her feelings. Also, the demons from her past are making an appearance and she may not be able to survive to tell the tale.

The problem with this novel is that it leaves the audience hanging. The previous books in the series also had this problem but they did offer some kind of resolution to the conflict. This one leaves you high and dry. It forces the reader to buy the next book to find out what happens.
