Born of Night

Born of Night is a romance and fantasy fiction novel authored by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It is the introductory book of the League series. It shows Command Assassin Nykyrian Quikiades as he turns his back on the League. They have been haunting him ever since.

Sherrilyn is a bestselling US author. She is best known for her urban fantasy and paranormal romance books. One of her best-known series is Dark-Hunter. The first book of that series is Night Pleasures. Her books regularly hit the coveted #1 spot on publications like NYT, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly. She has sold more than 70 million books all around the world in 100 countries. She has an insane list of awards under her name. The narrator Kelly Fish did a fine job building the requisite tension of the novel. She has done the voices of all the characters appropriately.

The League and their assassins rule all in the Ichidian Universe. The League Assassins seem to be the backbone of the government, as they are highly trained and valued. Still, not even they are safe from corruption from within.

Nykyrian Quikiades has only one mission – to protect Kiara Zamir. She is a woman whose father’s political ideology has made her a target. He won’t back down from his mission, even if he’s hunted by the League. Many have tried to kill him, but he won’t be stopped so easily. As new and old enemies appear, they both have to rely on each other to survive the ordeal.

Through this book, we get to know that Kenyon has a thing for tortured heroes. They face difficulties in their life. That makes them stronger more and more.
