Blue Dahlia

Blue Dahlia is the first book in the series referred to as In the Garden. It is written by Nora Roberts as a contemporary romance novel. She is a legendary author whose works have spent a combined 861 weeks on The New York Times Bestseller list. This book launches a new trilogy that has a captivating tale. The author has displayed considerable talent through this book. Make sure to check out The Awakening and Hideaway as her other great books.

The narrator – Susie Breck – has not performed up to par with the narration of this book. Her voice is generic and lacks energy. Her southern accent is also nothing to fawn over. She doesn’t tell it like a story. She doesn’t describe it as if it’s happening to her. Thus, it hampers the listener in imagining the story in their minds.

Young widow Stella Rothchild is trying to escape the ghosts of her past. She moves back to southern Tennessee with her two energetic boys. As she returns to her roots, she’s neither intimidated by the Harper House, not by its mistress. Roz Harper has been nothing but kind to her, even though her reputation speaks the opposite. She gives Stella a place to live and a job as the manager of flourishing. As Stella lives her fairly comfortable life, she can’t help but fall for the gorgeous landscaper Logan Kitridge. He might be a bit too straightforward and brash, but he’s exactly what Stella is looking for.

This is a fascinating story of a more fascinating trilogy. This for sure will appeal to the fans of Nora Roberts. Not only that, women who are yearning to discover themselves will find solace in this book.
