A Minute to Midnight is a thriller and suspense novel. It is the second installment of An Atlee Pine Thriller series which is by David Baldacci. He is a magnificent writer of mystery thrillers who pursued this career after finishing his education as an attorney. Long Shadows is one novel from the author which is not to be missed. The same could be said about his amazing Memory Man novel as well.
The audio narration of A Minute to Midnight novel is done by Brittany Pressley and Kyf Brewer. They both remained in full control of the performance and made the characters and the story of this novel so much more appealing to the listeners.
The life of Atlee Pine, an FBI agent was never the same after Mercy, her twin sister got kidnapped. She was more likely killed and it happened 30 years ago. Their unresolved anger of Atlee after all those years of torturous uncertainty got the better of her on her job. She found that she had to tackle the demons from her past if she wants to continue her job with the FBI.
Atlee along with her assistant Carol headed back to her rural hometown which was in Georgia. She went there to see what they could find about the fateful night when Mercy was kidnapped and Pine almost got killed. But soon after the investigation began, a local woman was found brutally murdered, and that proved to be a turning point in the story…
More than the story, the credit for the success of this audiobook goes to the powerful narration been done. The narrators were good at blending their styles conveniently while infusing this slightly complex plot with edginess and tension.
