Another crusade begins and the primarch Roboute Giilliman is sent to control everything for the emperor’s realm. The stakes are high as the enemies are coming from all sides and the disturbance can change into chaos very soon. This is the time when anyone can turn the course of the battle upside down. Guilliman does not want all of that to happen because he is determined to establish peace. The war continues for a long time and then something happens that both sides were not expecting.
They were warned about an ancient evil buried near the war zone but they never thought that it would come out of the dungeons and will start affecting the entire realm. When the evil comes out after centuries, the crusade is changed because both sides start fighting against the evil which wants to eradicate both of them. Guilliman is determined to end the war which has started on both sides and for this, he has to play a big game i.e a game of life and death.
Andy Clark takes the crusade to a different level in this part of the series. There are no allies still different sides work together for the sake of survival. The evil which has risen has no weakness apparently and Guilliman at one point thinks that it is actually the end of everything.
John Banks with the voice of a warrior has narrated this highly charged story which is lovely to hear like Fist of the Imperium and Celestine: The Living Saint. Such stories can be enjoyed only when they are listened to without stopping at any point. If you stop and try to understand certain things then the sensation will disappear.
